MV High grad wins award for volunteerism

Mountain View High School graduate Karen Pitsenbarger Krejcha, a mother with autism who has two sons on the autism spectrum, won the 2013 Washington State Jefferson Award in recognition of her public service and volunteerism.

Krejcha, a resident of Washington state, is founder and executive director of the nonprofit Autism Empowerment, based in Vancouver, Wash.

Cambia Green and Bryan Rome have announced their engagement to be married in Saratoga in August.

The bride-to-be is the daughter of Heather and Grant Green of San Francisco. She graduated from Los Altos High School and earned a bachelor’s degree in geology and anthropology from DePauw University. She is currently a medical student at the Indiana University School of Medicine.

Kendra Anne Barkoff and Jonathan Lee Lamy were married Jan. 12 under a chuppah on the beach at The Fairmont Mayakoba Resort in Playa del Carmen, Mexico.

The bride is the daughter of Rodger and Sharon Barkoff of Los Altos Hills. She graduated from Castilleja School and earned a bachelor’s degree in political science from Washington University in St. Louis, Mo. She is Vice President Joe Biden’s press secretary.

Ayelet Arbuckle and Anton Marinovich had two weddings. The first occurred Aug. 17 at the groom’s father’s village church, Sainte Jure, in Bacina, Croatia. The second took place at Portola Valley Community Hall Sept. 8.

The bride is the daughter of Susan Arbuckle and Steve Schneider of Woodside. She earned a master’s degree in speech pathology from San Jose State University. She is employed as a speech-language pathologist and is the singer for a Bay Area band, The Heel Draggers.

The bride is a native of Los Altos Hills. She resided in Spain and Tucson, Ariz., during studies at the University of Arizona. She lived in South America and Southern California while earning a master’s degree from Pepperdine University’s Graziadio School of Business and Management.

Troop 22 Eagles

Los Altos Boy Scout Troop 22 recognized three members for achieving their Eagle Scout ranks, the highest designation in Boy Scouts. Approximately 4 percent of all Scouts reach the rank of Eagle Scout.

Makinnon Baugh, David Bodine and Jordan Higham were honored at an Eagle Court of Honor ceremony Oct. 14 at the Lucie Stern Community Center in Palo Alto.

Troop 33 Eagles

The Eagle Scout Court of Honor ceremony for Boy Scout Troop 33 opened with the sound of bagpipes and snare drum. Family, special guests and fellow Scouts gathered at Los Altos United Methodist Church Aug. 26 to commemorate the achievements of five members.

Austin Browning, Caelan Conant, Brian DeAngelis, John Wilken and Brian Wipfler were inducted as Eagle Scouts in the Pacific Skyline Council. They are among the 218 Boy Scouts in Troop 33 who have earned the highest rank since the troop was founded 60 years ago.

Edith Cooper, a resident of Los Altos for more than 20 years, recently celebrated her 104th birthday. She saw nearly all of the 20th century unfold before her eyes.
