In a showdown of local District 44 9-10-year-old softball teams on July 13, Mountain View's All-Stars edged Los Altos 13-12 at Ferrell Field in Sunnyvale.

With Los Altos leading 12-11 in the bottom of the sixth inning, Mountain View's Nicole Yeaman-Sanchez walked with one out, and the next three batters also walked to force home the tying and winning runs.

On the hitting front, Easton Henrickson led Mountain View with two doubles, and Jessica Cruz had two hits and three RBIs for Los Altos while Jennifer Lauer chipped in with one hit.

Tierney Serviss got the win for Mountain View, pitching in with six strikeouts.

MAJORS: In majors All-Stars softball action on July 11, Los Altos topped Sunnyvale Metro 7-1 behind the hitting of Jenny Gosnilak and Lauren Haugh and the pitching of Sarah Laird.

Gosnilak and Haugh each had two hits and scored one run apiece, and Laird went the distance for the victory at Ortega Field in Sunnyvale.

BASEBALL: In a 9-10-year-old District 44 All-Star game on July 14, Tri-Cities upended Mountain View 16-9 at Campbell Field.

The score was tied at 6-6 after two innings, but Tri-Cities added six runs in the bottom of the third to build a 12-7 lead.

Tommie Bommarito homered and doubled for Mountain View..
