Good news for the city of Los Altos. At a study session on the city budget for July 1, 1997, to July 1, 1999, Finance Director Sherry Lambach told the city council there is $402,000 of one-time "additional monies" in the proposed $13.9 and $14.1 budgets for the next two years.

The Citizen's Task Force that has been meeting to develop a master plan for the 401 Rosita park site has come up with consensus positions on a number of key issues regarding development of the site. First, it makes good sense for the city and the school district to work together on a joint use arrangement to maximize the benefits to the community. Second, an indoor facility is a high priority for the city. Third, the favored locations for an indoor facility are Covington School and the Civic Center (50-50 split), with 401 Rosita a distant third.

A Mountain View High School teacher has been selected from a national applicant pool to attend one of 34 summer study opportunities supported by the National Endowment of the Humanities. The Endowment is a federal agency that each summer supports seminars and institutes at colleges and universities so that teachers can study with experts in humanities disciplines.
