More than 240 runners entered the contest with some from as far away as Rhode Island, Oklahoma, Kansas and Oregon. The 1928 fire engine, pride and joy of the Los Altos Fire Department, paced the runners with Councilman Peter Lewis in command.

Footaction kicks out scholarships

Footaction, a Dallas-based athletic specialty retailer, will award four students $5,000 scholarships and 20 others $1,500 scholarships this April. High school seniors who participate in team or individual sports of any kind and who plan to attend college are eligible for the scholarships.
