Socially Speaking

Socially responsible - at an early age. Bonnie Gikas' fifth grade class at Bullis-Purissima elementary school is learning what it's like to "treat" others. At the suggestion of Jonathan Helms' mom, Vicky, the class collected, sorted, counted and delivered more than 2,000 pounds of food to the Community Services Agency food bank and kitchen in Mountain View on Halloween. The whole school got involved, with each class competing with the other to try and bring in the most. The coveted award? A root beer float party for the entire class which turned out to be a tie between the third and fourth grade class.
